Improper searches in the run-up to the Olympic Games

In the run-up to the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, several families have contacted the CCIE because they have been the victims of abusive searches, carried out under the pretext of preventive measures. These interventions, marked by unprecedented violence and blatant Islamophobia, have left the victims and their children shocked and seeking justice.

The reports CCIE has received describe scenes where the forces of law and order have barged into homes, breaking down doors and walls, despite residents’ attempts to cooperate peacefully. One claimant recounts, ” I told them I was going to open the door, but they said they were obliged to follow procedure and had to break the door. ” The searches were carried out brutally, with the targeted individuals handcuffed and their phones and computers seized. Analysis of the latter revealed no suspicious activity.

According to the Ministry of the Interior, these actions were justified by the need to monitor people on the S list before the Olympic Games, but they degenerated into physical and verbal violence, exacerbating the families’ sense of insecurity. Another report sent to the CCIE highlights the overt Islamophobia of the officers: “ The police officers did not hesitate to display their Islamophobia by opening religious books and pointing out Koranic verses out of context, telling me that Muslims are intrinsically dangerous because all acts are justified by this book “.

Residents are now left with damaged homes and doors that won’t close. These raids have not only left physical wounds, but also deep psychological trauma.
