Last Thursday, the Ulu Camii mosque in Haguenau (Grand-Est, France) was the target of an arson attack. Thanks to the quick reaction of a worshipper on the scene, firefighters were able to intervene quickly and contain the flames, which only affected the building’s front door.
The association responsible for the mosque lodged a complaint and an investigation was launched. The suspect, a man in his twenties, was taken to court on Sunday and released under judicial supervision.
The town’s mayor, Claude Sturni, expressed his support in the following terms: “We stand united against all forms of hatred and violence. Our city will not be divided by these cowardly acts”.
