On March 14 and 15, 2024, an international coordination meeting was held in Strasbourg, bringing together representatives from several countries and international organizations to discuss the fight against hatred towards Muslims. Organized by the Council of Europe and the European Commission, this meeting aimed to strengthen global cooperation in the face of rising hatred, both online and offline.
Discussions focused on the importance of collective action to counter disinformation, hate speech, and acts of violence directed against Muslims. Participants also emphasized the need to improve educational systems, combat intersectional discrimination, and ensure the protection of fundamental rights, including freedom of religion.
This meeting served as a reminder that combating hatred against Muslims is a global issue that requires a coordinated and determined response from states and civil society actors.
