Evere: driving instructor refuses to let Muslim women wear headscarves

According to the school’s secretary, this is a condition that the instructor set when he joined this driving school in Evere (Brussels Capital Region). The latter adds that “even if it’s not normal, the instructor brings in €36,000 a month”, implicitly approving these Islamophobic practices to earn more money.

These statements were recorded by a young Muslim woman, Natacha, 20, who has been rejected by this instructor since she started wearing a headscarf. She has denounced the discrimination she has experienced and has decided to lodge a complaint.

Questioned by the Sudinfo media, the driving school’s director replied that it was only a question of an instructor wanting to limit his hours, and that it had nothing to do with Islamophobia… We can afford to doubt this, and that’s surely what the courts will also do when the young woman’s complaint succeeds.
