This Tuesday, January 14, Haute-Savoie (southeastern France) witnessed several Islamophobic attacks and acts of vandalism in its territory.
The Riadh halal supermarket in Gaillard was the target of violent Islamophobic acts, with insulting inscriptions such as ‘Islam out’ on the storefront and vehicles stoned.
Another halal butcher shop in La Roche-sur-Foron was also targeted with similar tags, while in Bonneville, a mosque was vandalized with Islamophobic and racist slogans such as ‘Islam out of Europe’ and ‘Dirty race’, accompanied by paintball shots.
These attacks mark an alarming rise in hatred and violence towards Muslims, revealing a form of targeted and destructive discrimination. The severity of these acts cannot be ignored, and public authorities must take the necessary measures.
