In France, a mosque vandalized in a village of 1,300 inhabitants

Last Saturday night, the corpse of a wild boar was dumped outside the doors of the Franco-Turkish association in Saint-Usage (Côte-d’Or, eastern France), which also houses a mosque.

The gendarmerie quickly intervened and an investigation was opened. The new Minister of the Interior, Bruno Retailleau, was moved by the attack and pledged his support and that of the State for Muslim communities.

This damage to a Muslim place of worship comes two days after the attempted firebombing of the Amiens mosque.

The perpetrators of this Islamophobic act have finally been identified and admitted to acting on an “idea” after accidentally hitting the animal. Placed in police custody, they will not be prosecuted but will have to pay a fine, avoid the municipality for six months, and attend an awareness training course.
