In Switzerland, the Cantonal Police Strengthens Prevention in Schools Against Hate Crimes

Last week, the Security Department and the Department of Public Education and Culture issued a press release announcing the reinforcement of prevention measures against hate crimes.

These hate crimes, which have been on the rise in Switzerland against Jewish and Muslim communities since the beginning of the genocide in Gaza in October 2023, are concerning and require a response commensurate with the challenges.

There must be no place in our society for hatred and violence, regardless of their form and motivation – religion, origin, appearance or lifestyle, emphasized State Councilor Philippe Müller, Director of Security.

That is why the reinforcement of prevention measures will mainly take place in Swiss schools, in order to raise awareness from the youngest age.
