Last May, two young women were physically assaulted at Groupama Stadium (Lyon) during the live broadcast of the French football cup final. During a crowd movement, their neighbor violently elbowed them. On the club’s surveillance footage, we can see that even before the crowd movement began, this man performed a Nazi salute, while another pretended to tear off the headscarf of one of the two women.
Despite all these filmed acts of violence submitted for the investigation, “the Prosecutor’s Office has ultimately chosen to pursue the main perpetrator but only for the blows delivered to Anissa. As it stands, he will not be held accountable for the Nazi salutes, nor for the blows delivered to Karima,” states the young women’s lawyer, Maître Tammouz Al Douri. He concludes: “I have therefore asked the Prosecutor to extend the charges against the perpetrator for the blows delivered to Karima and for the Nazi salutes; and against his accomplice for the gestures that preceded the blows.”
The trial is scheduled for December 4th, case to be followed.
