The local authorities of North Rhine-Westphalia in Germany have announced the creation of the first Islamophobic incidents reporting center, MEDAR, which will open in spring 2025.<\/p>\n\n

This initiative follows a sharp increase in Islamophobic acts, with 269 incidents reported in 2023, twice as many as the previous year.<\/p>\n\n

The MEDAR center, which will also record incidents targeting foreigners, aims to combat Islamophobia and address the rise of xenophobia and the far-right. This project is part of the local authorities’ efforts to strengthen the fight against all forms of racism and discrimination, and to protect Muslim communities in Germany. <\/p>\n\n
